The History of Reynolds Creek

Established in 1959

The Reynolds Creek Experimental Watershed (RCEW) was established in 1959 to conduct long-term research in the areas of water supply, seasonal snow, soil freezing, water quality and rangeland hydrology. Scientists at the RCEW have being collecting continuous monitoring data in all the years since the RCEW’s founding. This long history of data collection was critical to the establishment of the Reynolds Creek Critical Zone Observatory in 2014. It provides current scientists with historical data they use in their research. In the video below, Zane Cram, the watershed manager at Reynolds Creek, shares the history of Reynolds Creek, what makes Reynolds unique, and why he enjoys working in such a diverse environment.
